“WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES” is a visually breathtaking, powerful blockbuster!

Consistently intelligent, this epic third instalment in the rebooted franchise is suspenseful, grand, sensitively performed and told with amazing visual authority. If you’ve seen the first two parts, this conclusion of the trilogy is a definite must-watch, which will leave you absolutely satiated. Go for it!

In this third chapter of the franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.

Morally thoughtful, such is the heft in the narrative of this film, that you feel for the apes throughout and whenever the humans start acting against them, you resent it. It's a strange enough dynamic where the audience is rooting for the victory of another species, but this is where this movie excels. With this trilogy, the makers have invented a totally new medium of performance, ofcourse with the unbelievably immaculate aid of Andy Serkis. Another astonishing achievement of this film is in the VFX department, which is by far the most seamless you’ve seen in cinema yet. Right from the apes and the alps to the terrific action sequences, you are over-awed by this technical accomplishment. This remarkable film combines awe-inspiring special effects and a poignant narrative – a truly rare feat.

Serkis is totally brilliant and truly memorable as Caesar. Even the supporting players excel, with each getting a moment or two of their own. Woody Harrelson too does a truly phenomenal job as the evil colonel.

In all, WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES is a heart-wrenching film, with the best performances we've seen from non-human characters in a long while. If you’ve followed this franchise from the beginning, there is no reason you should miss this epic conclusion. Highly recommended!
