Captain America: Civil War
Captain America: Civil War
“CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR” is an entertaining yet intelligent blockbuster!
Lacking the sense of urgency that’s common in all recent Marvel movies, this latest superhero saga is massive, overstuffed, overlong and yet, witty and terrifically entertaining. Unlike the recent ‘Batman V Superman’ debacle, this clash of the titans has the fun of a comic book along with the relevance of contemporary cinema. Go for it!
"Captain America: Civil War" shows Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps – one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark's surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.
Captain America: Civil War is a great superhero blockbuster that lays the groundwork for even bigger and better things to come. It’s a powerful film dealing with complex human emotions with roots in revenge and loyalty. The film flows smoothly not just because of the great physical and verbal gags, but also because of the perfectly constructed fight scenes. While the fight scenes sometimes run too long for one’s liking, they never breach the border to boredom. The last year’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” was a disappointment of sorts, especially because it was preceded by a terrific series of marvellous Marvel films. But, this film more than makes up for it, with its cerebral writing and engaging drama.
The action and 3D enhanced CGI is top class. What really keeps the momentum going in this otherwise leisurely paced film is the constant introduction of a new exciting super-character every few minutes. And in the penultimate fight sequence, you have the ultimate clash that’s adrenaline pumping to say the least. Boasting of a decidedly non-cartoonish plot and the courage to explore thought-provoking themes, this super film is a treat for all marvel fans. The performances are consistently immaculate. There’s humour and wit on display even in instances where you least expect. But never is the content superfluous, especially when the core drama is so well constructed.
So, the ultimate battle of superhero titans is about to take off in Marvel's “CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR”. Hold onto your seats, because this is one helluva ride. If you are an avid follower of this genre, do not miss this one!
