“SHIVAAY” is pointless, and a big bore!

Showcasing a run-of-the-mill action thriller with a dog-tired script and an insipid screenplay, this Ajay Devgn directorial feels like a product of the 90’s, despite all its visual extravagance. Neither original nor thrilling, “Shivaay” is one big bogus release this Diwali, which should be avoided by all means.

Shivaay is the story of a man named Shivaay (Ajay Devgn), a Himalayan mountaineer, who is an innocent everyman, but is capable of transforming into a mean destroyer when he needs to protect his family.

It’s tough to realize the concept behind such a regressively constructed film. Apart from the VFX (on which they’ve spent a bomb), there’s nothing in the film that justifies a 2016 Diwali release. If the only reason behind calling it Shivaay is the fact that he wreaks havoc if perturbed, then, I’m sorry Mr. Devgn, it’s just whimsical to think you’re presenting something deep. I personally waited till the end, wishfully expecting something deep to manifest. Alas, the film kept failing miserably frame by frame. Like all poor films, it’s difficult to write more about a film that is so devoid of personality and content. The action is unreal and so are the set pieces, making the film unbearably unbelievable. The only thing positive about this film is the unintentional comedy it generates through its stupidity.

Among the actors, it’s an Ajay Devgn show all the way, no matter how terrible the show itself is. Immense efforts are evident, but all in vain. However, his acting prowess is hardly utilized here. All other actors just do their job, which, owing to the daftness of the screenplay, never really seem serious.

In all, SHIVAAY is a mega failure for director/ actor Ajay Devgn, and a totally forgettable film!
