The Jungle Book “THE JUNGLE BOOK” is immersive and visually breath-taking! A perfect blend of great subject matter and brilliant special effects, this live-action reimagining of ‘The Jungle Book’ is a fresh, entertaining and unmistakably heart-warming film. Visually stunning and extremely engaging, it’s a must watch for the entire family! The film narrates the story of Mowgli (Neel Sethi), a human boy raised by the Indian wolves Raksha (Lupita Nyong'o) and Akela (Giancarlo Esposito) ever since he was brought to them as a baby by Bagheera, the black panther (Ben Kingsley). When the fearsome scarred Bengal tiger, Shere Khan (Idris Elba) threatens his life, Mowgli leaves his jungle home. Guided by Bagheera and Baloo, the bear (Bill Murray), he sets out on a journey of self-discovery while evading the man-hunting Shere Khan. Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who do not exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa (Scarlett Johansson), the Indian python, and the smooth-talking Bornean orangutan-resembling Gigantopithecus, King Louie (Christopher Walken), who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly "red flower". This journey, filled with fun as well as adventure, leads to an exciting climax. Based on Rudyard Kipling's eponymous collective works, this film is a live-action/CGI reimagining of Walt Disney's 1967 animated film of the same name. Directed by Jon Favreau and written by Justin Marks, the film has not a single dull moment to offer. A visual delight, this film pleases all your senses with just the perfect doses of adventure, humour and emotions. The CGI coupled with 3D is so immersive that you literally live the film during those 106 minutes. For all Adult Indians, the experience of watching this film is also a nostalgic one. After all, who can forget the timeless “Jungle Book” Cartoon series we all saw two decades ago on TV. Each character is etched in our minds and when you see them in a live-action avatar, with some mind-blowing CGI, you’re bound to love the outcome. The jungle feel created is truly amazing and so is the animal creation. Not just visually, the film satiates you with its content as well. Gripping narrative, appropriate drama, focused yet funny, the screenplay is absolutely riveting. Given the puerile content at hand, this is perhaps the most impressive output that you could ever see in cinema today. With a couple of thrilling scenes, the film is not exactly for very small kids, who might get scared in those 2-3 moments. The emotional connect is unavoidable. Mowgli, played immaculately by Neel Sethi, forms the core. He’s so emotive that he makes you feel for him every single time. The voiceovers by the veterans of Hollywood are simply flawless. That combined with the life-like imagery just makes the cinema absolutely absorbing. To sum up, “THE JUNGLE BOOK” plunges you into one of big screen's most engrossing artificial worlds since “Avatar”. An immersive adventure story that should not be missed. Go for it!
